If your Harmony 900 has suddenly stopped powering-on, is freezing intermittently, or presenting with a 'white screen', especially after being dropped, it may be suffering from a marginal 'build' - poor solder connections underneath the main processor. Sometimes, a procedure called a 'solder reflow', where the board is heated in an attempt to re-make these connections can be done. But the cost of doing this is prohibitive. Instead, we may be able to repair your 900 by installing a shim to stabilize the PCB and prevent it from flexing. Often, this stabilization procedure is as effective as a reflow, with similar success and longevity rates. Best of all, it can be done at a fraction of the cost. So, if you have already done all of the recommended troubleshooting steps, including re-boots, battery pulls, and Safe Mode Firmware updating, and there has been no improvement, then we may be able to help. But, it is important to remember that this is essentially a manufacturing defect in the Harmony 900 and therefore, this procedure is not always successful. Much depends on how marginal the solder connections are and where the damage has occurred in the 289 connections underneath the chip. We have found that some 900's will not respond at all to this procedure, others will work, but only for a short time and others are still going (for years now). Since there is no way for us to predict the success of the attempt, or guarantee the longevity of the repair, we cannot offer any warranty. However, for the small fee that we charge, we can give it our best shot. If the remote cannot be made to power-on and operate normally during a 15-minute testing period, your service fee will be refunded in full. Very important- All internal locking tabs on the front cover must be intact for the stabilization procedure to be attempted! If one or more tabs are broken or missing, the front cover will require replacement and there is a potential up-charge of $15. If the top left corner of the front cover is raised, floating, or has any play at all when you press down, you may as well select the Front Cover Option below, since you are going to need it. If you do not select the option, we will contact you if a front cover is required to complete the repair. If you prefer not to send in your remote for repair, we do have some Harmony 900 controllers for sale.
